How promotions work

You can create discount codes and vouchers, set pricing that varies by date, period or demand, and request reviews from customers after their hire. All of it is scoped, so an offer can apply to one category, one location or one stretch of the calendar.

Seasonal rental has a specific commercial problem: the peak sells itself and the shoulder does not. A blanket discount is the wrong answer, because it costs you margin in the weeks you were going to sell out anyway.

Scoping is what makes a promotion useful. Ten per cent off midweek in May is a good idea; ten per cent off everything is a way of paying customers to book the Saturday they were already going to book.

What it does

Commercial tools

  • Discount codes scoped to a category, location, period or minimum value.
  • Vouchers and gift cards sold and redeemed against bookings.
  • Dynamic pricing that moves with date, demand and length of hire.
  • Seasonal rates, so August and February are not priced the same.
  • Longer-hire discounts, where a week should not cost seven day rates.
  • Review requests sent after the hire, when the experience is still fresh.
  • Reviews collected against real bookings, so they cannot be fabricated.
  • Offers aimed at existing customers through the portal rather than the open web.
Questions

Frequently asked questions

Can I limit a discount to certain dates?

Yes. Codes can be scoped by date range, category, location, minimum value and usage count, which is what stops an offer leaking into your peak weekends.

What is dynamic pricing?

Pricing that varies with date, demand or length of hire rather than sitting at one rate. In practice it means charging more for a summer Saturday than a February Tuesday, without editing prices by hand every week.

How do reviews work?

A request goes out after the hire, tied to a real booking. That means the reviews you collect are from people who genuinely rented from you.

Can I sell gift cards?

Yes. Vouchers and gift cards can be sold and redeemed against bookings, which brings revenue forward into the quiet part of the year.

Should I discount at all?

In the peak, usually not. The tools here exist so you can be precise — filling midweek in the shoulder season without touching the weeks that sell out on their own.
